Job Requirements
- Food service experience in back-of-house/kitchen
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and complex recipes
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to use weights, measures and comprehend recipes
- Knowledge of knife skills and kitchen equipment
- Flexibility to work in fast-paced environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand or walk up to 10 hours
- Ability to bend, point, stand, twist, climb

Job Qualifications

- Strong written, reading, and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of basic knife skills, chopping, sautéing, grilling, and food prep
- Understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environments
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand or walk up to 10 hours
- Motivated with strong work ethic
- Flexible availability including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Ability to work as part of a team
- ServSafe Food Handler Certification or equivalent preferred
- Culinary degree and pastry experience considered a plus
Job Duties
- Prepare food to the executive chef's specifications
- Assist kitchen staff with daily tasks
- Cook menu items in cooperation with kitchen staff
- Support kitchen maintenance and cleanings
- Report accidents and policy violations to leadership
- Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe working environment
- Help prepare foods for other VMFA dining venues as needed
