Job Requirements
- must possess California EMT-B license before date of hire
- must possess and maintain valid California Class C driver license and ambulance endorsement
- American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certification required
- equivalent to high school diploma supplemented by relevant coursework or training
- must complete National Incident Management System IS 700 and Incident Command System ICS 100 and 200
- ability to lift up to 125 lbs
- must be available for shift work, on-call, and stand-by duties
- ability to travel to various locations
- ability to work in hazardous emergency environments
- must pass pre-employment background and medical examinations
Job Qualifications
- equivalent to completion of high school supplemented by college-level coursework or specialized basic life support training
- valid California EMT-B license
- American Heart Association First Aid and CPR certification
- valid California Class C driver license with ambulance endorsement
- completion of National Incident Management System IS 700
- completion of Incident Command System courses ICS 100 and 200
- demonstrated ability to operate emergency vehicles safely
- experience with basic emergency medical care and patient assessment
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- physical ability to perform strenuous emergency tasks
- familiarity with record keeping and inventory management
Job Duties
- perform basic life support care on sick and injured persons at emergency sites and during transport
- record event information including patient condition and treatments
- provide patient information to medical personnel
- bandage and lift patients into ambulances
- maintain inventory of ambulance supplies and perform vehicle maintenance
- operate emergency vehicles to and from incident scenes
- participate in fire department training and drills
- respond to emergency medical calls and administer first aid
- communicate effectively with the public and team members
- conduct daily equipment inspections and maintain equipment readiness
- adhere to federal, state, and local laws and medical protocols
- maintain physical fitness to carry out job duties
- assist in the maintenance of the fire station and grounds
