The Red Coat Hospital Concierge role is a vital full-time position within this esteemed organization, offering the opportunity to be an essential first point of contact for patients, visitors, and hospital staff. Scheduled Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., this role is perfectly suited for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional customer service within a fast-paced healthcare setting. In this role, you will deliver on the promise of providing timely assistance, information, and comfort to patients and their families. Responsibilities include greeting every visitor warmly, anticipating needs, and responding promptly to questions or concerns to foster a seamless and coordinated healthcare experience. The Red Coat Hospital Concierge acts as a friendly navigator within Penn Medicine, escorting visitors and patients safely to their destinations within the hospital, assisting with transportation needs, and facilitating access to parking and shuttle services. Beyond logistics, this position requires a commitment to maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor, including wearing the signature red blazer which symbolizes the welcoming presence of the concierge team.

This position also demands physical stamina as it involves considerable walking, standing, and assisting patients, sometimes including pushing wheelchairs while ensuring safety and proper body mechanics. Communication skills are paramount, both in-person and over the telephone, to maintain courteous, confidential, and respectful interactions with all individuals. Job Duties

  • Provide a welcome to every patient, family member or visitor in accordance with training
  • Anticipate and respond to patient, visitor, hospital staff and volunteers concerns, expectations or needs in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with patients, visitors, volunteers and hospital staff to deliver a coordinated and seamless service to patients and visitors including patient transportation
  • Escort patients and visitors to their destination within the hospital
  • Direct visitors and patients to the parking shuttle
  • Assist immobile patients and visitors within the hospital safely and courteously using proper body mechanics
  • Assist patients, visitors and hospital staff with parking and directions in the parking garage
  • Provide services such as directing to parking valet or shuttle service, calling cabs, coordinating para-transit and providing local information regarding restaurants, hotels, and public transportation
  • Identify, report and provide service recovery for customer service issues
  • Return patient transportation equipment to the appropriate area
  • Ensure the environment is safe and clean
  • Use proper telephone etiquette
  • Preserve the confidentiality, privacy and dignity of patient, visitors and hospital staff according to Hospital Policy
  • Maintain professional appearance including the wearing red blazer and appropriate attire
