Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a professional kitchen preferred
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- Compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Physical ability to perform kitchen tasks
- Effective communication skills

Job Qualifications
- Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workers
- Ability to push pull bend stoop and reach upward
- Ability to read Banquet Event Orders
- Experience cooking on carving pasta omelet and stir fry stations
- Ability to work all banquet functions
- Ability to cut trim and bone meat prior to cooking
- Ability to wash peel cut and shred fruits and vegetables
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with other departments
- Ability to bake broil saute and steam various foods
- Ability to measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
- Basic proficiency in English
Job Duties
- Prepare food of consistent quality following Fairmont Grand Del Mar and Forbes standards
- Date all food containers and rotate per Standard Operating Procedures
- Practice safety standards at all times
- Cook orders as requested including special requests
- Start food items prepared ahead without overestimating needs
- Practice sanitation standards and keep perishables at proper temperatures
- Properly portion items on assigned station
- Control food waste loss and usage per SOP
- Check pars for shift use and prepare accordingly
- Note out-of-stock items or shortages and assist in buffet stocking
- Assist in prep work of vegetables and condiments for next shift
- Return unused food items properly stored and dated
- Carry out reasonable management requests within capabilities
