Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or secondary qualification or equivalent
  • Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards
  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Basic computational ability
  • Ability to read recipes and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform culinary techniques including cutting, cooking, and plate presentation
  • Physical ability to work indoors in moderate and extreme temperatures
  • Ability to stand and engage in well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to handle kitchen equipment and displays
  • Ability to respond to guest concerns proactively
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or secondary qualification or equivalent

  • Good working knowledge of sanitation standards
  • Knowledge of operating kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, slicers, and steamers
  • Knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service

  • Ability to manage and motivate kitchen staff
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Plan and manage kitchen staff in procurement, production, preparation and presentation of food
  • Recommend menu and procedural changes
  • Manage kitchen human resources including hiring, training, coaching and performance reviews
  • Monitor and control maintenance and sanitation of kitchen and equipment
  • Develop, recommend and manage department budget
  • Analyze banquet event orders and coordinate with catering staff
  • Participate in long-range planning and special projects
