Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years prior experience in similar position
  • Must obtain TABC and food handlers certification prior to beginning work
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate in English both verbally and in writing
  • Basic math skills to understand measurements, requisition amounts and portion sizes
  • Ability to operate kitchen appliances such as stoves, ovens, mixers
  • Knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart weighing up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to perform duties in confined spaces
  • Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to perform duties within extreme temperature ranges

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Receive orders from restaurant servers and prepare the order in line with the executive chef’s instruction
  • Maintain appropriate sanitation of the line with health department and Moody Gardens standards
  • Assist in all necessary preparation for buffet and operations of line
  • Check all coolers at the beginning and end of shift and ensure they are running at the right temperature
  • Handle fresh seafood with care ensuring it is iced down around the clock
  • Keep the line clean at all times
  • Check the banquet function sheet every morning
  • Set the line for the next day
  • Keep up with stock and alert executive chef if an item has run out or is running low
  • Follow recipes at all times
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned, subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve Moody Gardens needs
