Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- experience in food preparation or culinary environment preferred
- ability to stand for extended periods
- physical capability to handle lifting and moving of heavy items
- compliance with health and safety regulations
- availability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays
- willingness to adhere to company policies and attendance standards
Job Qualifications
- Hotel experience preferred
- finger and hand dexterity to operate food machinery with or without reasonable accommodation
- ability to grasp, lift, carry, or move goods up to 100 lbs continuously with or without reasonable accommodation
- effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to adapt communication style to different audiences including supervisors, coworkers, and the public
Job Duties
- Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards per check from servers
- start food items prepared ahead of time without over preparation
- date and rotate all food containers as per HEI Hotels and Resorts standards
- check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line setup
- assist in keeping buffet stocked
- return unused food items to designated storage areas with proper covering and dating of perishables
- assist in planning and correcting food cost issues, control food waste, loss, and usage
- operate, maintain, and clean kitchen equipment such as deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat top grill
- comply with attendance rules and be available to work regularly
- perform other job-related duties as assigned
