Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent or two years related work experience in lieu of education
  • Two years responsible experience in large-scale food service including preparation, handling, safety, and sanitation
  • Proficiency in cashiering and Microsoft Office
  • Basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication
  • Completion of eight-hour Serving It Safe food safety training and passing exam within 21 days of hire

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of responsible experience in large-scale food service operations including food preparation, handling, and safety
  • Proficiency in cashiering and Microsoft Office
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and multiplication
  • Completion of an eight-hour Serving It Safe food safety course and passing the exam within 21 days of hire
  • Preferred one year supervisory experience with planning and directing employees’ work schedules
  • Experience providing training in staff kitchen responsibilities
  • Experience with food service point of sale and inventory management systems
  • Previous food service manager experience

Job Duties

  • Manage all food and supply inventories, ordering, production records, cash handling procedures, bank deposits, and paperwork submission
  • Understand and comply with USDA and state meal pattern and service requirements
  • Monitor kitchen equipment temperatures and food heating/cooling times per HACCP standards
  • Ensure sanitation and food safety regulations are followed
  • Prepare and serve elementary pre-plate and secondary open food service meals
  • Maintain proper food serving techniques and portion controls
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate cafeteria assistants and coordinate employee timecards and leave requests
  • Resolve complaints equitably and report concerns to supervisor
  • Submit maintenance requests and report maintenance problems
  • Maintain NSLP compliance at point of sale and keep accurate records
  • Plan, organize, and make independent decisions within tight deadlines
  • Assign and direct student aides and substitutes
  • Build positive working relationships with students, staff, and public
