Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years related work experience may substitute for education
- Two years responsible experience in large-scale food service including preparation and safety
- Proficiency in cashiering and Microsoft Office
- Proficient in basic math
- Must attend and pass eight-hour ASD Serving It Safe food safety class within 21 days of hire
- Ability to work 7 hours per day for 9 months annually
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Effective communication in English
- Completion of background check
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of responsible experience in large-scale food service operations
- Proficiency in cashiering and Microsoft Office
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and multiplication
- Completion of eight-hour ASD Serving It Safe food safety class and passing related exam
- Preferred one year of supervisory experience
- Experience providing staff training
- Experience with food service point-of-sale and inventory systems
- Previous food service management experience
Job Duties
- Manage all food and supply inventories, ordering, production records, cash handling procedures, bank deposits, and submit required paperwork
- Know and understand USDA and State meal pattern and service guidelines
- Monitor and record kitchen equipment temperatures, food heating and cooling times, and HACCP requirements
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and food safety regulations
- Prepare and serve elementary pre-plate and middle/secondary open food service meals
- Perform daily tasks to prepare lunches on schedule for estimated number of students
- Maintain proper food serving techniques and portion controls
- Organize and assign work to kitchen staff as needed
- Adhere to Student Nutrition Department and Anchorage School District policies
- Resolve complaints and communicate concerns to supervisors
- Submit maintenance requests and report major equipment issues
- Maintain NSLP compliance for Free and Reduced meals at point of sale and record-keeping
- Plan, organize and make independent decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Train, supervise, and evaluate cafeteria assistants
- Coordinate employee timecards and leave requests
- Assign and direct student aides and substitutes
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and public
