Job Requirements

  • Education equivalent to two or three years in culinary arts college or vocational school
  • One to three years of related supervisory experience in food production
  • Ability to work evening and weekend shifts including alternating weekends
  • Willingness to work during university closures as a critical staff member
  • Ability to assist in ordering, planning, and food preparation
  • Compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Ability to demonstrate cooking techniques to staff

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of culinary arts typically acquired through two or three years of college or vocational education
  • One to three years of progressively responsible experience in food production and supervision
  • Supervisory experience equivalent to sous chef level in full service food and beverage operations
  • Experience in food handling and banquet coordination
  • Familiarity with food preparation equipment
  • Ability to train and mentor kitchen staff
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Assist executive chef in daily supervision and training of dining services production staff
  • Order, plan, prepare, and serve food to maintain quality and service standards
  • Inspect kitchen equipment for proper use and maintenance issues
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to the cooking staff
  • Coordinate and support special event planning, including banquet operations
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Monitor inventory and assist with recipe development
