Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- State driver's license in good standing
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments including confined spaces and elevated locations
- Ability to operate vehicles airside and landside with AOA permit
- Capability to lift, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment
- Availability for 24-hour on-call and recall for essential services and emergencies
- Willingness to undergo background security investigation
Job Qualifications
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in outside plant cabling including copper and fiber optic facilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of network communications systems and daily operations
- Skilled in installation, testing, and location of outside plant cabling
- Ability to read floor plans, construction drawings, schematics, blueprints, wire mapping, and color codes
- Knowledge of handling, inspecting, and cleaning fiber optic cable
- Skilled in fiber optic and copper cable splicing and termination for both outside and inside plants
- Ability to perform detailed analyses of engineering data and blueprints
- Proficient in standard construction permitting processes
- Skilled in using Blue Beam, GIS, and Visio software
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred certifications include BICSI, FOA, ICAC, and knowledge of Telcordia GR-1275-CORE standards
Job Duties
- Provide daily oversight and management of airport telecommunications projects
- Assist the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) in managing telecom call orders and projects
- Inspect contractor work for installation, testing, and maintenance of cabling plants and communication systems
- Review contractor documents, permits, and attend preconstruction project meetings
- Locate and document inside and outside network communications cabling
- Serve as liaison to IT and other departments regarding network communications
- Provide technical support and recommendations for fiber optic and copper cable installation, splicing, and termination
