Job Requirements

  • Two years full-time journey-level air traffic controller experience in a large commercial or military airport traffic control tower or five years aviation emergency radio dispatch or ramp control experience or FAA flight service station
  • Completion of ATI certification from a certified university may substitute for two years full-time journey-level experience
  • Must possess a valid Nevada Class C Driver's License at time of hire
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Employment contingent on successful physical examination including hearing and vision tests
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test
  • Must maintain residency within Clark County and comply with Nevada motor vehicle registration and driver’s license laws within 90 days of employment
  • Subject to background investigation criminal history check and Transportation Security Administration security badge requirements
  • Ability to walk long distances climb multiple stairways including 18 flights in elevator outages
  • Must meet distant and near vision correctable to 20/20 with normal color vision
  • Hearing must allow comfortable use of headsets with no hearing loss over 30 decibels in specified frequency ranges

Job Qualifications

  • Two years full-time journey-level air traffic controller experience in large commercial or military airport tower or five years aviation emergency radio dispatch or ramp control experience or FAA flight service station
  • Completion of ATI certification from a certified university may substitute for two years full-time experience
  • Control Tower Operator certificate is desirable
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to operate complex radio and computer systems
  • Strong teamwork and customer service skills
  • Physically able to meet vision hearing and mobility requirements

Job Duties

  • Controls the ground movement of aircraft within the non-movement area of the airport on an assigned shift including coordinating gate scheduling off-gate parking aircraft hot and cold holding with airline tenants
  • Applies ramp control procedures that provide safe movement of aircraft on the non-movement area and operationally acceptable to FAA and airlines
  • Provides control surveillance and traffic advisories when directing aircraft from predetermined drop-off points to the gate area controls vehicles near taxiing aircraft coordinates aircraft gate scheduling
  • Utilizes technological tools to effect ramp navigation
  • Applies gate flow and scheduling software to maximize gate assignments aircraft pushbacks and holding pad assignments
  • Operates automated and networked information display systems video cameras monitors radio communication systems
  • Reports need for maintenance of any systems
  • Provides timely information to tenants FAA makes entries in daily operational logs administers on-the-job training
  • Drives motor vehicle to reach various work sites respond to emergencies
  • Contributes to efficiency and effectiveness of unit through teamwork
  • Uses standard office equipment including computer
