Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
  • Completion of Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission training
  • Presentation of OPOTC certificate or equivalent letter at application
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Valid driver's license
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Good moral character and ability to pass background check including polygraph
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanor domestic violence convictions
  • Meet Ohio Administrative Codes for peace officer training and firearm possession
  • Ability to pass job-related psychological, medical, drug, and stress tests
  • Visual acuity correctable to 20/40 or better
  • Depth perception normal
  • Peripheral vision at least 140 degrees
  • Willingness to work multi-shift schedules including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
  • Ability to attend and complete Airport Police Field Training Program
  • Must maintain Ohio Emergency Medical Response certification
  • Pass nicotine screening and remain tobacco-free if newly hired

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
  • Completion of Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) training or equivalent
  • Valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Council Certificate or equivalent letter from Ohio Attorney General
  • Ability to successfully complete Airport Police Field Training Program
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver's license
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Good moral character with no felony convictions
  • Ability to pass a background investigation including polygraph
  • Ability to meet physical and medical standards required for airport law enforcement
  • Ability to maintain necessary certifications, including Emergency Medical Response (EMR) certification

Job Duties

  • Provide full law enforcement and police services at aviation facilities by enforcing laws and regulations
  • Perform both foot and vehicle patrols on airport grounds
  • Write detailed reports on FAA, TSA, and O.R.C. regulation violations and criminal and non-criminal activities
  • Issue traffic citations and make arrests as warranted
  • Administer first aid and coordinate medical treatment and hospital notifications
  • Assist airport operations and flight services during overdue or missing aircraft and emergency alerts
  • Conduct central dispatch duties for police officers, maintenance personnel, and other staff
  • Operate law enforcement terminals, emergency notification systems, security systems, and controlled access systems
