Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Completion of OPOTC law enforcement training
- Possession of valid Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Council Certificate or equivalent
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- United States citizenship
- Pass extensive background check including polygraph
- No felony convictions
- No disqualifying misdemeanor convictions for domestic violence unless legally pardoned or expunged
- Successful completion of medical, psychological, drug screening, and stress tests
- Ability to work multi-shift schedules including weekends, holidays and overtime
- Attend Ohio Emergency Medical Response training and maintain EMR certification
- Tobacco and nicotine free status as a condition of continued employment
- Must meet FAA and TSA operational requirements for airport police
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Completion of Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission (OPOTC) law enforcement curriculum
- Valid Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Council Certificate or equivalent letter from Ohio Attorney General
- Successful completion of Airport Police Field Training Program
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a thorough background investigation including polygraph
- Good moral character with no felony convictions
- Ability to meet Ohio Administrative Code or Ohio Revised Code requirements for peace officers
- Visual acuity correctable to 20/40 or better with normal depth perception and peripheral vision
- Ability to perform physical duties of the position
Job Duties
- Provide full law enforcement and police services at aviation facilities by enforcing applicable laws, ordinances, administrative orders, TSA and FAA regulations
- Perform both foot and vehicle patrols
- Write detailed reports concerning FAA, TSA, O.R.C regulation violations, criminal and non-criminal activities
- Issue traffic citations
- Make arrests as warranted and use judgment in all situations
- Administer first aid and coordinate medical treatment
- Assist airport operations and flight services in aircraft overdue or missing situations and tower alerts
- Perform central dispatching duties including dispatching police officers and maintenance personnel
- Operate LEADS terminal, emergency tele-notification system, security system, and airport computer controlled access system
