Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, aviation management, or related area
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Supervisor or team leader experience
  • Ability to interpret airport-related design drawings
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and schedules
  • Willingness to work day or night shifts and visit project sites under all weather conditions
  • Ability to work in Emergency Operations Center shifts when needed
  • Valid certifications preferred
  • Must comply with City of Atlanta employment policies

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, aviation management, or related area
  • 8-10 years of experience in medium and large hub airport construction or similar area
  • Experience as a supervisor or team leader
  • Ability to manage airport-related design processes
  • Proficient in interpreting design drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to develop and lead project teams
  • Knowledge of project management processes
  • Preferred master's degree in engineering, aviation management, or related area
  • Preferred 10 years of experience in large hub airport design and construction
  • Preferred Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Job Duties

  • Manage and oversee staff including Department of Aviation and consultant personnel
  • Implement terminal and concourse development projects from planning through facility commissioning
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including airlines, federal agencies, and consultants
  • Select consultants and construction contractors
  • Monitor project budgets and schedules
  • Resolve disputes and prepare change orders
  • Communicate project challenges and solutions to Department executives
  • Develop and mentor junior staff members
