Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautics, Airway Science, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in airport operations
  • Four years of airside operations experience
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Valid Class C Texas driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain all required security badge access including CBP within six months
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Compliance with City of Houston’s drug testing and physical examination policies

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautics, Airway Science, Business Administration, Public Administration or related field
  • Bachelor’s degree may substitute for up to two years of experience
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience in airport operations
  • Four years of airside operations experience
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Familiarity with FAA regulations including 14 CFR Part 139 and 150 Series ACs
  • Ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively
  • Experience with emergency management and incident response
  • Knowledge of wildlife hazard mitigation
  • Experience with MS Office suite preferred
  • Certifications such as CM, AAE, IAP, ACE, or military experience considered
  • Valid Class C Texas driver’s license

Job Duties

  • Ensure life safety by maintaining a safe and secure airfield
  • Oversee projects including wildlife, fueling, 139 compliance, and training
  • Provide oversight to the Airside team including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation
  • Inspect airport facilities and monitor communications to identify safety and operational concerns
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with policies and regulations
  • Manage emergency responses including aircraft incidents and hazardous material events
  • Initiate and disseminate Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) according to FAA regulations
  • Oversee wildlife hazard management and update the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan
  • Review and approve airside construction plans to ensure FAA compliance
  • Manage fuel inspection program and maintain related records
  • Maintain Airport Certification Manual and Airport Emergency Plan with regulatory compliance
  • Develop and facilitate emergency exercises and drills
  • Communicate with airlines, tenants, and personnel to resolve operational issues
  • Conduct TSA security inspections and respond to incidents
  • Create and enforce operating rules and procedures to ensure safety
  • Complete projects and other related duties to enhance safety and productivity
