Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in airport management, business, public administration or related field
  • Three years of experience in airport operations or administration including FAR 139 airfield inspections and employee supervision
  • Must complete movement area driver certification within 45 days of hire
  • Knowledge of airport and airline operations, security theory, systems and design
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of FAA FAR 139 certification requirements
  • Ability to prepare reports and prioritize work during emergencies
  • Ability to make quick decisions and adapt to irregular operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to operate vehicles safely with acceptable driving record
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
  • Ability to utilize firearms and pyrotechnics
  • Pass City of Boise background check, criminal history and reference checks
  • Pass driving record check
  • Pass TSA background check (SIDA)
  • Comply with drug-free workplace requirements including pre-employment drug test
  • Maintain qualification standards to carry firearms

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in airport management, business, public administration or related field
  • Three years of experience in airport operations or administration including conducting FAR 139 airfield inspections and supervising employees
  • Proven supervisory and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of airport and airline operations, security systems and federal regulations
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports
  • Ability to make quick decisions and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to interpret regulations and policies
  • Capable of performing essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Valid state-issued driver's license

Job Duties

  • Perform full range of supervisory duties including hiring, evaluating, promoting, assigning duties, correcting behavior, initiating discipline and terminating employees as necessary
  • Act as primary Incident Commander for winter operations
  • Manage specialty programs to ensure airport regulatory compliance
  • Conduct airfield and airport property inspections to ensure FAR 139 certification compliance
  • Report airport and airfield conditions including inspecting runways, taxiways, markings, signs and lighting
  • Respond to all emergency and medical incidents and complete reports
  • Monitor and enforce TSA 49 CFR Part 1542 and FAR Part 139 security regulations, conduct inspections, and take enforcement actions
  • Monitor airport security access and respond to alarms using CCTV and access control systems
  • Monitor local and regional weather patterns and report field conditions during winter
  • Issue Notices to Airmen and conduct wildlife mitigation efforts
  • Oversee operations department providing customer service, lost and found services and assist airlines and vendors
  • Operate multi-channel radio systems and monitor flight information, weather, runway sensor, fire detection and emergency notifications
  • Assist airport credentialing office and provide security and driver familiarization training
  • Communicate with airfield maintenance to coordinate equipment needs
  • Write and maintain standard operating procedures for airport operations department
  • Perform other duties as assigned
