Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Aviation Management, Aviation Science, Business Administration or relevant field combined with minimum one year of experience in airport operations or administration, or high school diploma and equivalent education, training, and experience
- Ability to interact well with the general public and airport stakeholders
- Ability to establish and communicate reasonable performance standards
- Commitment to support the strategic direction, priorities, vision, mission, and values of the airport authority
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or other applicable programs
- Valid driver's license meeting insurance requirements
- Ability to pass random drug screenings, background investigation including criminal and prior employment checks
- Must pass Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) training and Air Operations Area (AOA) driver training
- Ability to learn and understand FAA regulations, TSA security rules, and airport safety standards
- Capability to plan, coordinate, and direct airport operations
- Ability to make sound judgments during emergencies and effectively coordinate resources
- Ability to analyze situations objectively and implement actions
- Capability to conduct various types of safety and emergency training
- Good English language skills including grammar, spelling, and oral communication
- Ability to operate a motorized vehicle
- Sufficient visual and auditory abilities to detect hazards and communicate safety information
- Physical ability to inspect airfield facilities including crouching and kneeling
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and tolerate exposure to fuels, chemicals, and noise
- Availability for night, holiday, weekend, rotating or irregular shifts providing 24/7 coverage including possible 12-hour rotations
- Capability to respond to airport emergencies involving injuries or property damage
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aviation Science, Business Administration, or relevant field
- Minimum one year of experience in airport operations or administration
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the public and stakeholders
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar software
- Ability to establish and communicate performance standards
- Knowledge of FAA regulations 14 CFR Part 139, TSA regulations 49 CFR Part 1542 and other federal, state, and local rules governing airport operations
- Ability to conduct emergency and safety training including classroom and real-time exercises
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including report preparation and presentations
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with tenants, employees, and the public
Job Duties
- Manage the daily operation of the airport including conducting airfield, terminal, and landside facility inspections to ensure compliance with airport policies and safety standards
- Document and analyze inspection results and coordinate corrective actions to comply with the Airport Certification Manual and FAA regulations
- Inspect airfield facilities such as runways, taxiways, fencing, gates, aprons, and service roadways to assure safety and efficiency
- Implement wildlife control procedures according to approved plans and regulations to ensure aviation safety
- Manage airport security access points through routine inspections and ensure compliance with Airport Security Plan and federal regulations
- Monitor and ensure safe vehicle operations in movement and non-movement areas
- Respond to emergencies, conduct accident investigations, and provide improvement strategies to management
- Implement snow and ice control procedures and conduct friction testing during inclement weather
- Issue and file Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and update field condition reports to communicate operational conditions
- Coordinate special events to maintain safe and efficient aircraft operations
- Conduct tenant compliance inspections and enforce airport rules and regulations
- Handle and investigate complaints ensuring a customer-focused airport environment
- Maintain liaison relationships with internal departments, tenants, air carriers, and external agencies
- Issue permits, licenses, airport badges, and identification materials in accordance with security standards
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and may take on additional responsibilities such as Wildlife Hazard Program Manager and monitoring air carrier fueling operations
- Represent the department in projects and assist in budget development
- Conduct emergency and safety training including classroom instruction, table-top exercises, and real-time drills
- Provide technical counsel for emergency preparedness planning
- Ensure compliance with airport emergency plans
- Respond to airport emergencies, coordinate activities with emergency response teams, and assist in investigations
- Participate in staff scheduling, training, and technical library maintenance
- Coordinate airport activities during incidents and assist in restoring normal operations
- Continually monitor and evaluate policies to recommend improvements
- Enforce Authority rules and regulations including issuing violation notices as appropriate
