Job Requirements

  • authorized to work in the United States
  • valid driver’s license at time of application with ability to obtain Wisconsin driver’s license within six months of hire and maintain throughout employment
  • high school diploma or GED and at least two years of aviation experience or bachelor’s degree in aviation management, business administration, or public administration
  • criminal history background check to maintain security clearance
  • high level of customer service skill
  • intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office, GIS/asset management software, and communication platforms
  • ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and push/pull up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis

Job Duties

  • perform inspections of airport facilities and roadways and evaluate hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions, security issues, and compliance with airport’s policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • document and take appropriate corrective action to ensure compliance and prevent personal injury and/or damage to airport property
  • provide on-the-job training for new employees
  • monitor, operate, identify, analyze, and respond quickly and logically to fire alarm, security, camera, paging, radio, weather, surface system, and flight tracking systems
  • dispatch and/or respond as appropriate
  • answer emergency calls and dispatch Milwaukee County Fire Department in accordance with airport policies and procedures and requirements defined in National Incident Management System and Incident Command System
  • collect all pertinent information and relay information and directions to responding units
  • maintain location and status of all emergency units and be knowledgeable in available resources, agency jurisdictions, and boundaries
  • respond quickly and logically to airport emergencies, incidents, and accidents as a second responder
  • follow established emergency procedures and ensure compliance with relevant federal regulations
  • take appropriate actions to ensure safe and efficient flow of passengers and traffic through airport terminals, concourses, roadways, and other facilities
  • monitor airport construction and maintenance projects to prevent adverse effects on safe operations
  • monitor wildlife activity and movement of aircraft at Lawrence J. Timmerman Airport
  • open and close airport movement areas as warranted and respond to emergency situations until relieved
  • ensure compliance with federal, state, county, and airport policies and ordinances to ensure safe and secure operations
  • assist with customer needs by answering phones, radios, and computer communication platforms
  • disseminate information in an organized manner
  • meet with airport users and tenants to resolve routine operational problems and process routine requests and complaints
  • provide escorts, facilitate tours, and act in an airport security capacity when needed
  • enter information thoroughly and concisely in accordance with FAA regulations
  • collect flight schedules from airlines and input into a consolidated database
  • create graphics upon request
  • manage aircraft assignments for flexible use gates, hardstand, and parking
  • ensure compliance with flexible use resource policies
  • monitor and troubleshoot gate and ticketing stations
  • make sound decisions based on established procedures and resolve issues professionally
