Job Description

Broward County Board of County Commissioners is a governmental organization responsible for serving the residents and visitors of Broward County, Florida. It oversees a variety of departments dedicated to enhancing the quality of life through excellent public service and infrastructure management. Among these departments is the Aviation Department, which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the North Perry Airport. Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work nights, holidays and weekends
  • two years of college level coursework in airport management, aeronautical science or related field or equivalent experience
  • one year of experience in airport operations or related field
  • valid Florida driver’s license
  • ability to obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Seal
  • pass Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA)
  • physical ability to perform light work, including walking or standing for extended periods
  • ability to manage unavoidable hazards such as traffic and moving machinery

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of college level course work in airport management, aeronautical science or closely related field
  • one year experience in airport operations or closely related field
  • valid Florida driver’s license
  • ability to obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Seal
  • knowledge of airport operational procedures
  • strong communication and customer service skills
  • ability to work independently and make timely decisions
  • familiarity with airport security compliance regulations
  • capable of operating county vehicles in airport environment

Job Duties

  • Monitors and assists coordination of airport operational areas to ensure compliance with rules and regulations
  • issues notices of violations and citations for non-compliance
  • assists with controlling persons and vehicles in restricted areas
  • monitors automated equipment systems for alarms and notifies appropriate personnel
  • inspects airport equipment and facilities for safety and security conditions
  • provides information and assistance regarding airport facilities to tenants and users
  • conducts and coordinates escorts and tours within public and secured airport areas
  • monitors vehicle operations for compliance with programs
  • collects and compiles statistical data on airport conditions
  • supports Emergency Operations Center and Airport Family Room during emergencies
  • produces specialized reports for operational and risk management purposes
  • operates and maintains county-owned vehicles including 4-wheel drive
  • performs related work as required
