Job Description
Broward County Board of County Commissioners is a governmental organization responsible for serving the residents and visitors of Broward County, Florida. Among these departments is the Aviation Department, which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the North Perry Airport. Job Requirements
- Must be able to work nights, holidays and weekends
- two years of college level coursework in airport management, aeronautical science or related field or equivalent experience
- one year of experience in airport operations or related field
- valid Florida driver’s license
- ability to obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Seal
- pass Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA)
- physical ability to perform light work, including walking or standing for extended periods
- ability to manage unavoidable hazards such as traffic and moving machinery
Job Qualifications
- Two years of college level course work in airport management, aeronautical science or closely related field
- one year experience in airport operations or closely related field
- valid Florida driver’s license
- ability to obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Seal
- knowledge of airport operational procedures
- strong communication and customer service skills
- ability to work independently and make timely decisions
- familiarity with airport security compliance regulations
- capable of operating county vehicles in airport environment
Job Duties
- Monitors and assists coordination of airport operational areas to ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- issues notices of violations and citations for non-compliance
- assists with controlling persons and vehicles in restricted areas
- monitors automated equipment systems for alarms and notifies appropriate personnel
- inspects airport equipment and facilities for safety and security conditions
- provides information and assistance regarding airport facilities to tenants and users
- conducts and coordinates escorts and tours within public and secured airport areas
- monitors vehicle operations for compliance with programs
- collects and compiles statistical data on airport conditions
- supports Emergency Operations Center and Airport Family Room during emergencies
- produces specialized reports for operational and risk management purposes
- operates and maintains county-owned vehicles including 4-wheel drive
- performs related work as required
