Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in aviation management, business administration or closely related field
  • Four years of airport management experience including one year supervisory experience
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license during employment and maintain authority to drive on County business
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge with Customs Seal
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain airfield driving privileges
  • Must undergo Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and Security Threat Assessment (STA) as required by TSA
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic airport environment
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Availability to respond to emergencies and work irregular hours as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, business administration, or a closely related field
  • Four years of airport management experience appropriate to the area of assignment
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • Valid Florida driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge with Customs Seal
  • Ability to obtain and maintain airfield driving privileges
  • Preferred master's degree in business, aviation or related field
  • Doctorate degree in airport management or related field preferred
  • Accredited Airport Executive (AAE), Certified Member (CM), or AAAE-ACE credentials preferred
  • Airports Council International (ACI) Diploma in Airport Operations preferred
  • Experience in terminal operations at a large hub international airport preferred

Job Duties

  • Responsible for compliance of all safety and security regulations and requirements pertaining to terminals operations, facilities, equipment, and personnel
  • Conducts employee training, development, coaching and mentoring, succession planning, prepares employee performance evaluation, and response to employee issues
  • Provides oversight and management control of special projects and programs, contracts administration, and daily work assignments for office and field personnel
  • Maintain a positive, consistent and professional working relationship with respective airport stakeholders including CBP, TSA, air carrier operators, service providers, concessionaires
  • Attends and holds professional and public meetings, and conferences to represent the interests of BCAD
  • Oversees planning of special events on the terminals, coordinates and implements programs including FIS Command and Control, Lost and Found services, Passenger Loading Bridge Training Program
  • Establish, implement, oversee, collaborate and support all sections of Airport Operations and Security to ensure superior levels of service
  • Responds to airport emergencies and coordinates emergency response training
  • Interfaces with local authorities to ensure BCAD complies with all local policies
  • Reports and analyzes data results for all terminals activity and passenger flow
  • Ensures Broward County Administrative Code and Code of Ordinances are updated to reflect changes in airport rates, charges and policies
  • Acts in place of Division Assistant Director in his/her absence
  • Performs related work as assigned
  • Assists in administering through subordinates the planning, scheduling and coordination of business and planning, procedures and priorities to meet established goals
  • Reviews airport development projects and monitors progress
  • Provides oversight and participates in meetings for airport improvement projects with airport planning
  • Sits on committees pertaining to marketing and public relations, and coordinates with County and State officials
  • Prepares and reviews hurricane and emergency plans
  • Plans, monitors and facilitates all functions relating to parking
  • Inspects parking facilities, storage areas and offices for compliance
  • Develops, implements and monitors operating budget
  • Prepares annual operating budget and capital improvement submittals
  • Reviews and approves contractor invoices and purchase requests
  • Handles airline-related challenges impacting gates, ticket counters, and related systems
  • Engages airline station managers to maintain open communications and solve operational issues
  • Conducts employee performance evaluations
  • Provides regulatory compliance oversight and develops policies and procedures
  • Builds and maintains relationships with airport stakeholders
  • Acting Division Director during absences
