Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university
- Minimum five years progressively responsible experience in aviation management or related field
- Ability to obtain American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) certification within 24 months
- Experience with FAA and TSA regulatory requirements
- Strong organizational and leadership abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to public service and community engagement
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in aviation management, business or public administration, or related field
- Master's degree in public administration or related field preferred
- Minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in aviation management, public administration, or business administration
- Certification from American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) preferred or ability to obtain within 24 months
- FAA certifications such as Pilot Certificates or Airplane and Powerplant Certificates are desirable
- Proven experience in strategic planning and capital project management
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and grant compliance
- Experience with airport operations, safety, and regulatory compliance
Job Duties
- Manages daily operations and airfield maintenance while supervising operational staff
- Coordinates emergency preparedness, snow removal, and regulatory compliance
- Oversees FAA and TSA safety programs ensuring all operations meet state and federal standards
- Drives economic development through partnerships and marketing strategies
- Pursues funding through federal, state, and private sources managing the grant lifecycle
- Leads the airport's long-range infrastructure and capital improvement strategy
- Oversees project planning, grant compliance, and alignment with City CIP and FAA requirements
- Maintains and updates Airport Master and Layout Plans
- Oversees airport leasing, property acquisition, and compliance with tenant agreements
- Manages easements and consultant and contractor coordination
- Acts as primary liaison to Airport Board, FAA, tenants, and the public
- Prepares reports, manages procurement, and ensures excellent customer service
- Supports city boards, attends industry meetings, and promotes airport through outreach and events
- Develops annual operating budget coordinating with Municipal Services & Operations Department
- Coordinates planning, development, and implementation of Capital Improvement Program
- Administers FAA Program compliance including plans, contracts, project oversight, and record retention
