The City of Renton's Public Works Airport department is actively seeking to hire a dedicated Airport Maintenance Worker to join their team at the Renton Municipal Airport. Job Requirements

  • minimum two years of diverse building and grounds maintenance experience
  • or three years relevant education and experience
  • valid driver’s license
  • successful passing of required background and driving record checks
  • ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • willingness to work outdoor in all weather conditions
  • ability to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • ability to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends as needed
  • ability to operate tools and heavy equipment safely
  • commitment to equity, inclusion, and teamwork

Job Qualifications

  • minimum two years of diverse building and grounds maintenance experience
  • or three years relevant education and experience
  • demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of the role
  • valid driver’s license
  • successful passing of required background and driving record checks
  • ability to operate various maintenance equipment
  • knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and grounds maintenance
  • strong communication and teamwork skills

Job Duties

  • execute a variety of skilled and semi-skilled building maintenance and repair tasks
  • perform grounds maintenance duties including mowing, trimming, cutting brush, planting, and pruning
  • conduct daily airport inspections to ensure safety and operational standards
  • perform custodial functions including cleaning restrooms and minor plumbing repairs
  • carry out repairs and preventive maintenance on airport facilities including control tower, hangars, fences, and signs
  • apply pesticides and herbicides in compliance with regulations
  • operate and maintain a variety of tools, equipment, and machinery
  • maintain inventory and secure tools and equipment
  • prepare and maintain reports and records related to operations
  • inspect and perform minor repairs on storm drains and sanitary sewers
  • assist with snow removal, water operations, and pavement management
  • respond to and assist in airport emergencies
  • contribute to teamwork and respect in the workplace
  • participate in cross-training and perform other assigned duties
