Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- minimal experience in the operation and maintenance of motorized equipment
- possession of a valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina
- physical ability to perform medium to heavy manual work including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally
- ability to work in various environmental conditions including extreme cold and heat, noise, vibration, and exposure to hazardous materials
- ability to communicate verbally in normal and loud spoken word levels
- visual acuity for detailed inspection and safety observation
- willingness to follow safety protocols and fuel control procedures
Job Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- minimal experience in operating and maintaining motorized equipment
- general knowledge of safe aviation ground procedures
- understanding of aviation fueling procedures and safety precautions
- familiarity with special aircraft towing procedures
- knowledge of airport operational methods, equipment, and facilities
- awareness of fire and safety precautions and emergency procedures
- strong communication skills
- ability to maintain basic records
- basic arithmetic skills
- ability to interact courteously and patiently with the public
- ability to establish effective working relationships with customers and colleagues
Job Duties
- Directing arriving aircraft to proper parking position on the airport ramp
- assisting pilots and customers
- taking fuel orders and performing minor aircraft maintenance as requested
- moving and parking aircraft in assigned locations with tractors and tow bars
- preparing aircraft for flight including fueling, adding oil, adjusting tire pressure, cleaning windshields, and removing covers
- assisting airline staff and customers providing directions, luggage and rental assistance
- escorting outside contractors as needed
- completing required paperwork for fuel purchases accurately
- performing flight line services such as connecting and disconnecting ground power units, servicing lavatories, standing fire watch during engine startups, directing aircraft on departure
- assisting in keeping the facility clean of trash, dirt, and debris
- operating ground service equipment including tow tractors, refueling trucks, and ground power units
- learning and following safe work practices and fuel quality control procedures
- observing all safety, environmental, and housekeeping rules and policies
- performing related tasks as required
