Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Five years of experience in landscaping, grounds keeping, or horticulture
- Must pass criminal history record check and security threat assessment
- Must maintain appropriate security status at all times
- Possession of a valid driver's license with good driving history
- If license is from outside Georgia or South Carolina, must obtain proper state license within 30 days
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely on airfield
- Ability to communicate with Air Traffic Control using radio systems
- Ability to use personal protective equipment for herbicide applications
- Willingness to be called up during emergencies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Five years of experience in landscaping, grounds keeping, or horticulture
- Considerable knowledge of power lawn equipment operation and landscaping techniques
- Familiarity with airside FAA Airplane Traffic and procedures
- Proficiency in operating heavy-duty tractor mowers, horticultural machinery, and hand tools
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of pesticide and fertilizer application techniques
- Valid driver's license with good driving history
Job Duties
- Maintains lawns by operating mowers and tractors with wide wing mowers
- uses equipment to edge, aerate, and clean lawn areas
- replaces damaged sod as required
- Ensures airside and landside grounds, ramps, runways, and safety areas are clean and free of debris
- Performs daily inspections of airport grounds for preventive and on-demand maintenance, debris, and discrepancies
- conducts storm preparation and post-storm checks
- Inspects and maintains horticultural elements such as flowerbeds, trees, and shrubbery
- applies fertilizers, pesticides, and mulch
- prunes and trims trees and shrubs
- Operates heavy machinery including runway sweepers and forklifts safely
- Maintains machinery, equipment, and tools in operable condition
- reports faulty equipment
- Adheres to FAA airside and safety protocols while communicating with Air Traffic Control
- Performs other duties as assigned
