Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a General Educational Development certificate (GED)
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as an emergency dispatcher
  • Certification by the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS)
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Class D Operator's License
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Ability to communicate courteously and tactfully
  • Physical ability to perform essential duties including arm and hand steadiness, finger dexterity, vision, speech, and hearing
  • Willingness to work shifts in a 24/7 environment
  • Compliance with drug and alcohol testing regulations including random testing

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a General Educational Development certificate (GED)
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience working as an emergency dispatcher
  • Knowledge of emergency and/or aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) dispatch and operations
  • Knowledge of the operation of radio, teletype, and telephone equipment
  • Demonstrated proficiency with various computer systems
  • Strong administrative skills with ability to quickly and accurately enter data and operate telephone and/or radio systems
  • Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations using proper procedures and exercising independent decision making
  • Ability to courteously and tactfully communicate with fellow workers, supervisors, other members of the organization, and the public
  • Knowledge of the location and functions of Tulsa International Airport and reliever airports
  • Knowledge of local, State, and Federal emergency and/or airport regulations
  • Certification by the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) is required
  • Membership in the Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) is preferred
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Class D Operator's License
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain eligibility to hold a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge

Job Duties

  • Receives incoming requests via telephone and radio for emergency assistance personnel
  • Dispatches personnel and equipment by radio
  • Monitors and operates multiple computer systems at the airport's centralized communications center
  • Monitors security access video cameras and fire alarm system for airport
  • Monitors base radios and frequencies
  • Utilizes various software programs, databases, and electronic equipment specific to the airport to obtain needed information and to monitor various activities
  • Operates tape recordings, flight information computer, and office equipment
