Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, transportation, business management or related field preferred
  • five years progressive experience in airport management, municipal aviation industry, or related field preferred
  • minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives and private pilot license is a plus
  • current valid Texas Class C driver's license and insurable
  • emergency management team responsibilities and certifications to be obtained during employment
  • knowledge of FAA regulations, federal, state and local rules and regulations pertaining to airport management and operations
  • ability to manage multiple project budgets and schedules
  • leadership and crisis management skills
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • problem-solving skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aviation management, transportation, business management or related field preferred

Job Duties

  • Develops and administers operational policies and rules regarding airport security, safety, and facility operation and maintenance
  • negotiates and administers airport leases, contracts and agreements with tenants and contractors
  • develops, recommends, and monitors airport improvement and development projects
  • researches and prepares federal and state grant proposals and administers grants
  • meets with Airport Advisory Board and City Manager to keep them apprised of airport activities
  • develops and manages the airport budget including capital expenditure projects
  • communicates with city employees, tenants, vendors, management, contractors, business owners, developers, aircraft owners, pilots, fixed-based operators, and the public
  • prepares correspondence, analytical, and financial documents and records
  • manages airport operations including security, facilities, environmental compliance, parking, grounds transportation, and general aviation programs
  • enforces regulations pertaining to flights, airport operations, and public safety
  • researches and prepares program and grant applications for funding
  • oversees administration and operation of the airport according to state and federal laws
  • establishes strategic goals for airport growth including long-term capital improvements
  • engages with local community stakeholders in public forums and meetings
  • coordinates with government agencies on inspections, certifications, and regulatory concerns
  • stays updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulations
  • develops, implements, and oversees airport safety procedures
  • oversees staff training, development, and performance evaluations
  • oversees fuel facilities for delivery of aviation fuels according to standards
  • participates in long range strategic planning and Airport Master Plan updates
  • may work beyond normal business hours in emergencies
