Job Requirements

  • must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required
  • associate's degree in social science, general studies, business administration or a related field
  • three years experience as a telecommunicator in a major airport terminal or related facility handling various communications equipment
  • ability to work shift work including rotating schedules, weekends and holidays
  • ability to perform occasional stooping, bending and light lifting up to 10 pounds
  • ability to make coordinated gross motor movements and eye/hand coordination at a low tolerance demand level
  • willingness to undergo random drug testing as a safety impact position
  • excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • proficiency with communications technology and equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in social science, general studies, business administration or a related field
  • three years experience as a telecommunicator in a major airport terminal or related facility handling various communications equipment
  • directly related professional experience in communications operations, airport operations, security or safety may substitute education on a year-for-year basis
  • experience in medium to high volume dispatch or communications center preferred
  • knowledge of CCTV systems
  • certifications such as NIMS IS-100, NIMS IS-200, TCLEOSE or TCOLE, A.A.A.E. ACE certification preferred
  • proficiency in Microsoft Outlook
  • familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • excellent communication and supervisory skills

Job Duties

  • Coordinate information flow during emergency situations to appropriate personnel
  • monitor the activities of the communications section to ensure service delivery standards are met and comply with airport operating procedures
  • prepare work schedules to ensure sufficient shift employees are available and monitor attendance
  • review office operations to identify training needs and provide training on communications equipment and airport procedures
  • provide guidance, training and support to employees and resolve grievances
  • handle complaints or inquiries from the public, airport tenants and other departments regarding communications activities
  • inspect and test communications equipment and prepare documentation for repairs or replacement
  • handle complex communications calls as necessary
