Job Requirements
- must be able to pass a criminal background check
- obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances where required
- ability to make coordinated gross motor movements in response to changing external stimuli
- ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space
- physically able to stoop, bend and/or lift materials up to 10 pounds
- willingness to work shift work including rotating schedules, weekends and holidays
- must pass pre-employment drug test and physical examination
- must be able to handle modestly unpleasant situations and exposure to office chemicals
- must have excellent communication and supervisory skills
Job Qualifications
- associate's degree in social science, general studies, business administration or a closely related field
- three years of experience as a telecommunicator in a major airport terminal or related facility handling a variety of communication activities
- directly related paraprofessional or professional experience in communication operations, airport operations, airport security, or airport safety may be substituted for education requirement on a year-for-year basis
- experience in medium to high volume dispatch, communications or call center preferred
- CCTV experience is a plus
- ability to monitor multiple screens is highly desirable
- certification in NIMS IS-100, NIMS IS-200, TCLEOSE or TCOLE certification, A.A.A.E ACE certification preferred
- proficiency in MS Outlook preferred
- knowledge of MS Office Suite is a plus
Job Duties
- coordinate information flow during emergency situations to appropriate personnel
- monitor the activities of the communications section to ensure service delivery standards are met and comply with airport operating procedures
- prepare work schedules to ensure that sufficient shift employees are available for workload demands
- monitor and document attendance of employees
- review office operations to identify technical and operational training needs
- provide training for employees on the operation of communications equipment and airport operating procedures
- provide guidance, training and support to employees and resolve grievances
- counsel employees regarding performance and handle related disciplinary actions
- handle complaints or inquiries from the public, airport tenants and other city departments relative to communications activities
- inspect and test working conditions of communications equipment
- ensure communications equipment is operational and prepare documentation to repair, upgrade or replace communications when required
- may handle complex communications calls
