  • Knowledge of Airport Security Plan, 49 CFR Part 1542 and 14 CFR Part 139

  • Able to work 16-29 hours per week
  • Must be able to work any shift in 24/7 operation
  • Must obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area clearance
  • Pass pre-employment background check, security clearance, and drug test

Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in Aviation, Airport Management or related field
  • High School Diploma or GED with two years experience in a communications center, preferably in an airport environment
  • Familiarity with emergency management and incident command system preferred
  • Experience operating multi-line telephone and two-way radio systems
  • Proficiency in electronic office equipment and computers
  • Skilled in the use of spreadsheets, word processors and databases
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Positive and cooperative attitude
  • Professional demeanor and appearance

Job Duties

  • Monitor designated on-property communications and coordinate operational activities
  • Receive and record work orders
  • Assist with aircraft gate assignments
  • Handle airport non-emergency and emergency communications
  • Relay general and emergency notices to appropriate airport response teams
  • Maintain compliance with Airport Security Plan and federal regulations
  • Operate communication systems including gate scheduling, security, PA, telephone, radio, and work order software
  • Maintain continuous awareness of radio traffic and interpret messages
  • Coordinate with FAA, TSA, and Air Traffic Control Tower
  • Report routine and emergency maintenance needs
  • Communicate emergency response needs to law enforcement and operations staff
  • Log airport activity accurately
  • Maintain standard operating procedures for communications center door
  • Disseminate information to management, departments, safety officials, and agencies
  • Respond to general inquiries about flights, services, and noise abatement
  • Document activities and incidents
  • Monitor potential events impacting operations and safety
  • Facilitate communication during emergencies
  • Participate in safety training and emergency drills
  • Maintain high level of customer service for users and tenants
  • Manage lost and found property
  • Assist customers with paging and flight information
  • Perform operations to meet schedules and quality standards
  • Maintain clean and safe work area
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
