Job Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in aviation, airport management, or related field
  • or high school diploma or GED with two years experience in a communications center preferably airport environment
  • familiarity with emergency management and incident command system preferred
  • competent in operating multi-line telephone and two-way radio systems
  • skilled in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • ability to accurately keyboard at 40 wpm
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • ability to handle confidential security information

  • proficiency in use of personal computers, faxes, email, phone, radios, and internet

Job Duties

  • Maintain compliance with the Airport Security Plan (ASP), 49 CFR Part 1542 and 14 CFR Part 139
  • operate aircraft gate scheduling, security and communication systems including multi-line telephone system, two-way radio system, public address system, work order management system
  • monitor and interpret radio traffic to determine necessary actions
  • maintain contact with FAA, TSA, and Air Traffic Control Tower as required
  • report routine and emergency maintenance needs on airport properties
  • communicate emergency response needs to appropriate staff
  • log airport activity and maintain records
  • coordinate information dissemination to management, departments, and public safety officials
  • respond to inquiries about flights, terminal services, and airport information
  • prepare documentation of incidents and activities
  • maintain situational awareness of incidents impacting airport operations
  • facilitate communication during emergencies by prioritizing responses
  • participate in emergency and safety training
  • assist management of lost and found property
  • assist customers with paging, flight information, and customer service
  • perform operational duties to maintain workflow and meet quality standards
  • maintain a safe and clean work area
  • perform additional duties as assigned by management
