Job Description

This job opening is for the position of Airplane Pilot/Helicopter Pilot within the Air Force Reserve as part of the Air Reserve Technician (ART) program. The Air Reserve Technician program is unique as it combines civilian employment with military service. Air Reserve Technicians serve as civilians during their regular work hours then activate to military status as needed. Job Requirements

  • Hold USAF pilot rating
  • have valid aviation service aeronautical order
  • minimum 750 total military flight time for GS-12
  • minimum 1,000 total military flight time for GS-13
  • minimum 1,200 total military flight time with 2 years experience for GS-13 flight instructor
  • minimum 1,500 total military flight time with 3 years experience for GS-14 flight instructor
  • submit ATAFR-209 form or equivalent flying history documentation
  • maintain military membership in Air Force Reserve
  • meet physical fitness, age, height, and weight standards
  • ability to serve as Air Reserve Technician on permanent or term basis

Job Qualifications

  • Possess USAF pilot rating
  • hold valid aviation service aeronautical order
  • meet total military flight time requirements according to grade level
  • have progressively responsible flying experience for instructor roles
  • ability to maintain military membership in the Air Force Reserve
  • demonstrate knowledge of military flight operations and safety standards
  • experience in mission design series flying

Job Duties

  • Operate and pilot assigned military aircraft in various mission design series
  • Conduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight inspections and evaluations
  • Provide flight instruction and training to other pilots and aircrew members
  • Ensure compliance with all military aviation regulations and safety protocols
  • Maintain readiness for immediate deployment and operational missions
  • Participate in mission planning and execution
  • Perform administrative duties related to flight operations and training
