Job Requirements

  • Possess USAF Pilot rating
  • Hold a valid aviation service aeronautical order
  • Submit official flying history documentation showing recent flight date, total flight hours, and aircraft types flown
  • Meet physical fitness standards and military membership requirements
  • Have minimum military flight hours as required by position
  • Be eligible for military membership in the Air Force Reserve
  • Submit terminal leave form or DD214 if transitioning from active duty

Job Qualifications

  • Possess USAF Pilot rating
  • Hold a valid aviation service aeronautical order
  • Have required military flight hours in mission design series
  • For GS-2181-13 flight instructor, have two years of progressively responsible military flying experience
  • For GS-2181-14 flight instructor, have three years of progressively responsible military flying experience
  • Demonstrate ability to meet military physical and performance standards
  • Experience providing flight instruction and evaluation

Job Duties

  • Operate military aircraft safely and efficiently in various mission profiles
  • Conduct flight instruction and evaluation of pilots
  • Maintain flight readiness and comply with Air Force Reserve standards
  • Participate in training exercises and operational missions
  • Document and report flight performance and maintenance issues
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements
  • Support operational planning and mission briefings
