Job Requirements

  • Officer military grade from 2nd Lieutenant (O1) to Lieutenant Colonel (O5)
  • Minimum one year on-the-job experience in the grade or comparable military rank
  • At least 24 months of working experience in civilian or military aviation programs or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group
  • Experience piloting and instructing in C-17 aircraft
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and conduct training flights within controlled national airspace
  • Capability to work independently in planning and performing assignments
  • Willingness to conduct tactical remote site evaluations and nighttime flight operations

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum one year on-the-job experience in a comparable military rank immediately below the next higher level
  • At least 24 months experience in civilian or military aviation programs or Air National Guard Wing/Operations Group
  • Experienced in piloting and instructing in C-17 aircraft
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations and military operational directives

Job Duties

  • Pilot C-17 aircraft during training and operational missions
  • Instruct and train fellow pilots in C-17 piloting skills
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct training flights through FAA-controlled national airspace
  • Apply operational and training directives from National Guard Bureau and military commands
  • Independently plan and perform mission-specific work assignments
  • Conduct tactical remote site evaluations and landings on remote sites
  • Perform night-vision operations and provide related instruction
