The Air National Guard (ANG) Aviation Wing's Operations Group within the CA 144th Fighter Wing (FW) is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Airplane Pilot (Accelerated Hire), GS-2181-13. Job Requirements
- must have Federal Aviation Administration certification awarded from an accredited civilian aviation program or have a aviation certification from an accredited military aviation school
- must have one year on-the-job experience in the grade or comparable military rank immediately below the next higher level
- must have at least 36 months specialized competencies in operating specific military aircraft, mission planning, and preparation
- applicants must provide unofficial transcripts or certificates verifying educational or certification requirements at application time
- foreign education must be evaluated and deemed equivalent by a specialized organization
- must comply with Department of Defense, Department of the Army, National Guard Bureau, and OSHA safety policies and regulations
Job Qualifications
- Federal Aviation Administration certification from an accredited civilian aviation program or military aviation certification from an accredited military aviation school
- minimum 36 months specialized experience in military aircraft operation and mission planning
- experience analyzing mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information
- knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics
- ability to supervise and train crew members
- competency in safety and security program adherence
- experience in developing operational plans and advising leadership
Job Duties
- Operate main-frame military aircraft during various missions
- plan and prepare mission activities including reviewing intelligence and weather data
- conduct crew briefings and file flight plans
- perform aircraft preflight inspections and loading assessments
- supervise navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, and reconnaissance operations
- train crew members in mission-specific tasks
- develop operational plans and policies and advise commanders
- ensure compliance with safety and security regulations and programs
