Job Requirements

  • Federal Aviation Administration certification from accredited civilian aviation program or military aviation certification
  • Minimum one year of on-the-job experience at the grade or comparable military rank below the next level
  • Must be able to provide transcripts or certificates verifying educational or certification qualifications
  • Compliance with Department of Defense, National Guard Bureau, Occupational Safety and Health Administration safety standards and directives
  • Evaluation of credentials if education was completed at foreign institutions

Job Qualifications

  • Federal Aviation Administration certification or accredited military aviation school certification
  • At least 36 months of specialized experience in military aircraft operations
  • Experience in mission planning and preparation
  • Proficiency in reviewing mission-related intelligence and environmental factors
  • Skilled in conducting preflight inspections and crew briefings
  • Strong leadership and training capabilities
  • Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics
  • Familiarity with safety and security policies and regulations

Job Duties

  • Operate main-frame military aircraft and conduct mission planning
  • Review and analyze mission tasking, intelligence, and weather information
  • File flight plans and conduct crew briefings
  • Perform aircraft preflight inspections, loading, and equipment assessments
  • Supervise navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue or surveillance operations
  • Train crew members on mission-specific tasks
  • Develop plans and policies, monitor operations, and advise commanders
