The Air Reserve Technician (ART) position is a unique and prestigious role within the United States Air Force Reserve. Job Requirements

  • must have at least 1,000 total military flight hours
  • must hold a valid USAF Navigator or Combat Systems Officer rating
  • must be instructor qualified in unit aircraft and MDS
  • must submit official flying hour documentation before duty date
  • meet federal GS time-in-grade requirements if applicable
  • must obtain military membership in the Air Force Reserve
  • comply with physical fitness, age, height, and weight standards
  • must meet job-specific military specialty requirements

Job Qualifications

  • must have a USAF Navigator or Combat Systems Officer rating
  • must possess a valid aviation service aeronautical order
  • minimum of 1,000 total military flight hours
  • instructor qualified in unit aircraft and MDS
  • knowledge of aviation operations and training
  • ability to formulate operational plans and policies
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to resolve complex issues and maintain good working relations

Job Duties

  • plan and execute flying operations
  • conduct unit flying training activities
  • maintain instructor qualification in unit aircraft and military aircraft type
  • support operational and administrative aspects of aircraft employment
  • provide expert guidance and mentorship to junior aviators
  • ensure compliance with military and civilian standards
  • communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
