Job Requirements

  • must meet specialized experience as per OPM qualification standards for ART flying positions
  • federal time-in-grade requirement of one year at GS-12 level for GS-13 applicants
  • submit official flying hour documentation including AFTAR 209
  • must obtain military membership in the Air Force Reserve
  • meet age, height, weight, and physical fitness standards
  • demonstrate ability to communicate effectively
  • military members on terminal leave must provide certification or statement of service
  • retired military eligibility subject to current assignment
  • must wear uniform and maintain job-specific military requirements

Job Qualifications

  • must have a USAF Navigator or Combat Systems Officer rating
  • hold a valid aviation service aeronautical order
  • minimum 1,000 total military flight hours
  • instructor qualified in unit aircraft
  • meet Office of Personnel Management specialized experience standards
  • knowledge of flying operations and military aviation protocols
  • ability to develop training plans and policies
  • strong communication skills
  • experience coordinating with military command structures

Job Duties

  • perform flight operations as a qualified pilot and instructor
  • develop and implement flying training programs
  • formulate policies related to flying operations and unit training activities
  • coordinate with Air Force Reserve entities and major commands
  • maintain and ensure compliance with military specialty and fitness standards
  • manage and resolve operational issues within the unit
  • communicate effectively both orally and in writing
