Job Requirements

  • Membership or eligibility for immediate membership in the Alabama Air National Guard
  • maximum military rank of Major
  • minimum one year of on-the-job experience in the grade or comparable military rank immediately below the next higher level
  • documentation of education credentials
  • federal aviation administration or military aviation certifications
  • ability to demonstrate specialized aviation experience
  • understanding of military aviation regulations and directives
  • military experience in piloting and instructing main-frame military aircraft

Job Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
  • federal aviation administration certification or accredited military aviation certification
  • minimum two years of experience in civilian or military aviation programs
  • demonstrated ability to train and instruct pilots
  • knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, and meteorology
  • experience with mission planning and flight operations
  • proficiency in aviation safety and quality control programs
  • ability to perform tactical flight operations and instruct on combat and non-combat missions

Job Duties

  • Piloting and instructing pilots in specified main-frame military aircraft
  • conducting mission planning, preparations, and crew briefings
  • supervising and conducting aircraft inspections and equipment assessments
  • applying flying directives, navigation, meteorology, and mission tactics
  • managing aviation quality control and safety programs
  • planning and conducting simulated combat and non-combat training missions
  • coordinating compliance with aviation regulations and safety standards
