Job Requirements
- must be a U.S. citizen
- able to pass and maintain U.S. government background security check
- obtain and maintain facility credentials and authorization
- able to meet physical requirements and pass medical examinations
- able to work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions
- exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes acceptable
- requires standing, climbing, bending, and stooping
- must obtain security clearance for public trust
- must be able to work rotating shifts, including detachments ashore and afloat
- must have a valid driver license in Virginia or North Carolina if resident
Job Qualifications
- high school graduate or equivalent
- minimum two years recent organizational level aircraft maintenance experience
- knowledge and use of special tools and equipment for maintenance tasks
- ability to read and interpret technical publications and safety rules
- self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision
- valid Virginia or North Carolina driver license
- preferred completion of military aviation maintenance training or FAA A&P license
- preferred prior experience with U.S. Navy F/A-18 aircraft
- ability to work rotating shifts and travel for detachments
Job Duties
- service aircraft and perform maintenance tasks
- direct incoming and outgoing aircraft near parking areas
- assist pilots with maneuvering aircraft using hand or light signals
- secure aircraft with chocks and tie downs
- operate service vehicles to replenish fuel and oil
- conduct pre-flight through post-flight maintenance inspections
- operate ground support equipment
- check tires for air pressure and condition
- assist in towing aircraft
- clean exterior and interior of aircraft
- maintain hangar deck cleanliness and manage fluid spills
