Job Requirements

  • National Guard membership is required
  • Eligibility for immediate membership if not currently a member
  • Must be willing to wear military uniform
  • Federal employment suitability determined by background investigation
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for selective service
  • May be required to complete probationary period
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory
  • Compliance with Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment of the Gun Control Act

Job Qualifications

  • Military grades warrant officer (WO1 to CW4) or officer (2LT to MAJ)
  • Minimum one year of on-the-job experience at a comparable military grade below the next higher level
  • At least two years of specialized experience operating AH-64E or similar military aircraft
  • Experience in mission planning, flight operations, pre-flight inspections, navigation, and crew training
  • Knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, mission tactics, and operating procedures
  • Experience with aviation safety programs and regulations
  • Skilled in instructing others in piloting military aircraft
  • Competent in administrative tasks supporting aviation programs

Job Duties

  • Direct, evaluate, and issue technical guidance to aviation units on training and readiness
  • Oversee collective and individual aviation programs
  • Provide staff supervision to training officers and noncommissioned officers
  • Manage the Aviation Flight Training Program (AFTP)
  • Audit and report on program utilization and execution
  • Facilitate communication between supported and supporting units for aviation support
  • Serve as Aircraft Maintenance Manager and coordinate maintenance programs
  • Manage aircraft inventory and coordinate aircraft transfers
  • Provide staff support for physical and operational security
  • Advise the Adjutant General on aviation matters in the absence of the SAAO
