Job Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at the GS-06 level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of transportation rules, procedures, and operations
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and communications equipment
  • Ability to pass federal time-in-grade requirements for GS-07
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple demands and short deadlines
  • Capability to communicate and coordinate with various agencies
  • Mental stability, sound judgment, and tact
  • No education qualification requirement

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Department of Defense air transportation systems and air terminal operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Skill in use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Ability to interpret regulations pertaining to air transportation
  • Ability to coordinate and resolve complex problems diplomatically
  • Knowledge of instructions governing general and hazardous cargo
  • Ability to enforce safety practices and procedures

Job Duties

  • Perform administrative duties to control information flow related to originating, terminating, and transiting aircraft
  • Coordinate activities among various work centers and higher headquarters to ensure smooth air terminal operations
  • Interpret and apply air transportation regulations including cargo and passenger requirements
  • Manage loading and offloading procedures for commercial and military aircraft
  • Resolve problems related to transportation priorities, cargo compatibility, and operational restrictions
  • Operate computer systems, telephones, and two-way radios to communicate and process information
  • Enforce safety practices and procedures within the air terminal complex
