Job Requirements

  • One year specialized experience at GS-06 level or equivalent
  • Knowledge of transportation rules, procedures, and operations
  • Familiarity with computer operating systems and communication devices
  • Ability to work under heavy workload and meet short deadlines
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Time-in-grade eligibility for GS-07 positions as applicable
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy in coordination
  • No specific education requirement

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge of department of defense air transportation system and air terminal complex operations
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
  • Ability to interpret and apply air transportation regulations
  • Knowledge of handling general and hazardous cargo documentation and restrictions
  • Strong coordination and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to enforce safety procedures under pressure

Job Duties

  • Serve as an information controller managing flow of data for originating, terminating, and transiting aircraft
  • Ensure effective communication between maintenance, operations, and Air Terminal Operations Center (ATOC) 24/7
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of transportation rules and procedures to resolve procedural assignments
  • Monitor and report on cargo handling, aircraft loading/offloading, and passenger eligibility
  • Operate and maintain computer systems, telephonic instruments, and two-way radios for information dissemination
  • Enforce safety practices and procedures relating to air transportation operations
  • Coordinate and resolve operational challenges with base agencies, contractors, and federal entities
