Job Duties

  • Authorize and regulate flights according to government and company regulations
  • Responsible for economics, passenger service, and operational control of day-to-day flight operations
  • Analyze and evaluate meteorological information to determine potential hazards to safety of flights
  • Compute required fuel amounts based on aircraft type, flight distance, maintenance limitations, weather conditions, and federal regulations
  • Prepare flight plans including maximum allowable weights, weather reports, NOTAMS, and field conditions
  • Prepare and sign dispatch releases authorizing flight departures
  • Delay or cancel flights if unsafe conditions threaten safety
  • Monitor weather, aircraft positions, and navigation charts to evaluate flight progress
  • Update pilot in command on significant weather or flight plan changes and recommend alternatives
  • Originate and disseminate flight information within the company including stations and reservations
