Job Duties
- Authorize and regulate flights according to government and company regulations
- Responsible for economics, passenger service, and operational control of day-to-day flight operations
- Analyze and evaluate meteorological information to determine potential hazards to safety of flights
- Compute required fuel amounts based on aircraft type, flight distance, maintenance limitations, weather conditions, and federal regulations
- Prepare flight plans including maximum allowable weights, weather reports, NOTAMS, and field conditions
- Prepare and sign dispatch releases authorizing flight departures
- Delay or cancel flights if unsafe conditions threaten safety
- Monitor weather, aircraft positions, and navigation charts to evaluate flight progress
- Update pilot in command on significant weather or flight plan changes and recommend alternatives
- Originate and disseminate flight information within the company including stations and reservations
