Job Requirements

  • Be at least 23 years of age
  • able to read, speak, write and understand English
  • able to relocate to Indianapolis independently
  • able to attend six to eight week uninterrupted training
  • commit to at least two years of employment after certification
  • pass FAA required 10-year work history review
  • pass criminal background and fingerprint checks
  • possess and maintain a valid US or foreign passport
  • authorized to work in the United States and travel internationally
  • willing to pass FAA and company-mandated random drug and alcohol tests
  • able to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • able to sit for prolonged periods
  • able to hear verbal communications clearly

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • possess Microsoft Office skills
  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • strong problem-solving skills
  • high mathematical ability
  • bachelor’s degree preferred
  • previous experience in airline operations preferred

Job Duties

  • Prepare dispatch releases for domestic, flag and supplemental operations
  • monitor the progress of each flight, paying specific attention to changing weather and field conditions at departure, destination and alternate airports
  • Record departure and arrival times of flights and keep computer systems up to date
  • Provide weather information for flight crews and continuously monitor for changes
  • Update flight crews of significant changes to weather, field conditions or air traffic concerns and make recommendations for changes to the original plan in the interest of safety
  • Coordinate with ground operations on any crew or aircraft changes or disruptions
  • Coordinate diversions with station operations to ensure the best possible passenger experience
  • Record all non-routine incidents and complete appropriate forms and reports
  • Initiate emergency procedures and notifications when necessary
  • Coordinate with all appropriate parties any unscheduled operation of aircraft due to weather, airport conditions, emergency situations
  • Provide coaching and on-the-job training for new-hire dispatchers as directed
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required
