Job Requirements
- Be at least 23 years of age
- able to read, speak, write and understand English
- able to relocate to Indianapolis independently
- able to attend six to eight week uninterrupted training
- commit to at least two years of employment after certification
- pass FAA required 10-year work history review
- pass criminal background and fingerprint checks
- possess and maintain a valid US or foreign passport
- authorized to work in the United States and travel internationally
- willing to pass FAA and company-mandated random drug and alcohol tests
- able to work nights, evenings, weekends and holidays
- able to sit for prolonged periods
- able to hear verbal communications clearly
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- possess Microsoft Office skills
- excellent communication and customer service skills
- strong problem-solving skills
- high mathematical ability
- bachelor’s degree preferred
- previous experience in airline operations preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare dispatch releases for domestic, flag and supplemental operations
- monitor the progress of each flight, paying specific attention to changing weather and field conditions at departure, destination and alternate airports
- Record departure and arrival times of flights and keep computer systems up to date
- Provide weather information for flight crews and continuously monitor for changes
- Update flight crews of significant changes to weather, field conditions or air traffic concerns and make recommendations for changes to the original plan in the interest of safety
- Coordinate with ground operations on any crew or aircraft changes or disruptions
- Coordinate diversions with station operations to ensure the best possible passenger experience
- Record all non-routine incidents and complete appropriate forms and reports
- Initiate emergency procedures and notifications when necessary
- Coordinate with all appropriate parties any unscheduled operation of aircraft due to weather, airport conditions, emergency situations
- Provide coaching and on-the-job training for new-hire dispatchers as directed
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
