Job Requirements
- Individual must have a CTO Certificate and a current Class II Medical Certificate
- position is subject to drug and/or alcohol testing per the DOT/FAA requirements (pre-employment, random, reasonable cause/suspicion, post-accident)
- individual must have held a Control Tower Operator Certificate (CTO) with a facility rating or have held an FAA Credential with a tower rating for a minimum of six months in an Air Traffic Control Tower
- pay of $35.03 per hour

Job Duties
- Make decisions involving the order of departures that assure equitable treatment and compliance with IFR clearances
- determine the times and direction of takeoff and necessary turns for departure
- decide whether inbound aircraft land immediately or circle and manage distances to control arrival points
- select active runways and coordinate potential simultaneous use
- manage arrival and departure interspersion to minimize delays
- clear landing and departing aircraft ensuring standard separation on runways
- sequence arriving traffic for safe, orderly flow on final approach
- apply IFR separation standards around the airport as delegated
- manage the sequence of VFR and IFR traffic using radar and separate IFR traffic when delegated
- authorize VFR flights through the airport traffic area
- determine usability of communication frequencies and navigational aids
- monitor and instruct pilots on radio frequencies and radar beacon codes
- coordinate with other controllers on arrival and departure movements
- preplan traffic sequencing and separation within a radius of 5 miles or more when warranted
- set up checkpoints for traffic separation
- maintain mental picture and evaluation of traffic complexities over geographic areas
- maintain continuous radio watch with aircraft
- handle IFR traffic responsibility
- analyze weather status and reports affecting traffic flow
- furnish aircraft with updated information on field, weather, and navigational aid status
- operate light guns, runway and field lighting, jet barriers
- orient pilots in difficulty and coordinate emergency services
- perform lower grade duties for operational needs and proficiency
- provide on-the-job training to others
