Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Rotorcraft-Helicopter Commercial and Instrument rated license
  • FAA First or Second Class Medical certificate
  • Minimum 2,500 total flight hours
  • Minimum 2,000 hours in flight category
  • 1,500 hours pilot-in-command in category
  • 1,000 hours rotorcraft turbine time with 500 twin engine hours
  • 500 cross-country flight hours with 50 night hours
  • 200 hours unaided night as PIC
  • 75 hours instrument flight time
  • Valid Florida driver’s license
  • Maintain current EMT license

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of a Rotorcraft-Helicopter Commercial and Instrument rated license
  • FAA First or Second Class Medical certificate
  • Minimum 2,500 total flight hours with 2,000 hours in category
  • 1,500 hours pilot-in-command in category
  • 1,000 hours rotorcraft turbine time including 500 hours twin engine
  • 500 hours cross-country flight time with at least 50 hours at night
  • 200 hours unaided night as PIC (100 hours may be substituted with NVG but not below 100 unaided)
  • 75 hours actual or simulated instrument time in flight category (simulator time only if certified Level D FSTD)
  • Valid Florida driver’s license throughout employment
  • Maintain State of Florida or National Registry EMT license

Job Duties

  • Operate helicopters as pilot in command for multi-engine rotorcraft in emergency medical and fire rescue missions
  • Provide direct on-the-scene emergency medical care support
  • Conduct flight operations under administrative direction within the Aviation Division
  • Utilize initiative and discretion to act independently during emergency situations
  • Execute pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with emergency personnel and dispatch centers
  • Maintain compliance with FAA regulations and departmental policies
