Job Requirements
- must have prior experience as a law enforcement pilot or be approved by the Chief Pilot
- must hold a valid FAA Commercial Pilot certificate and single-engine airplane license
- must hold current FAA Class II medical certificate
- must have 1000 hours total time in fixed-wing aircraft
- must pass proficiency flight check with Chief Pilot
- must have physical and mental stamina to work extended periods
- must maintain fitness for safe aircraft operation
- must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability
- must possess effective communication skills
- must have history of team cooperation and self-motivation
Job Qualifications
- prior experience as a law enforcement pilot or evaluated capable by Chief Pilot
- valid FAA Commercial Pilot certificate for the category and type of aircraft flown
- FAA commercial license for a single-engine airplane
- current and valid FAA Class II medical certificate
- at least 1000 hours total time in fixed-wing aircraft
- ability to train students and Tactical Flight Officers
- proficient report writing skills
- effective communication and interpersonal skills
- history of integrity, responsibility, and good judgment
Job Duties
- conduct law enforcement air support operations
- fly a minimum of 20 hours per week at the Houston Ship Channel
- perform patrol-oriented duties in support of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office
- train Tactical Flight Officers (TFOs) in flying techniques
- maintain flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and mission requirements
- pass proficiency flight checks with the HCSO Chief Pilot
- collaborate with departmental personnel and other law enforcement agencies
