Job Requirements

  • HS diploma, GED or equivalent
  • must be at least 18 years of age
  • ability to work in a high-noise level environment
  • ability to understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings with or without visual aids
  • pull, push, and lift bags weighing up to 70 lbs
  • pull water hose and connect to aircraft
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to work rotating shifts including weekends, holidays, and days off
  • able to confront unauthorized personnel and report security concerns
  • regular and timely attendance
  • collective bargaining agreement compliance
  • ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • ability to judge distances

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • valid driver's license
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • ability to read, write, and understand English
  • experience working in high-noise environments preferred
  • knowledge of airport cargo operations preferred
  • ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays
  • ability to follow safety protocols
  • teamwork skills
  • physical strength to lift up to 70 lbs
  • previous experience with vehicle operation in airport environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Load and unload aircraft of cargo weighing up to 70 lbs in and out of aircraft within confined cargo areas
  • push, pull, and position loaded containers weighing up to 3,200 lbs on rollers with/to aircraft
  • drive vehicles with gross weights of 3,000 to 80,000 lbs in congested airport areas
  • engage in push-out of aircraft driving 80,000 lb vehicle or assist by guiding driver
  • transport cargo to and from aircraft operating 3,000 lb vehicles through congested areas
  • perform ground to cockpit communication using hand signals and voice commands
  • receive, deliver, and physically handle freight, company material, mail, baggage, and express shipments
  • complete necessary forms and messages related to cargo operations
  • de-ice aircraft, clear aircraft windshields, connect and remove ground power units
  • clean aircraft exterior with specialized fluids and maintain work areas
  • assist with routine automotive repair and equipment servicing
  • lift and connect overhead electric cables to/from aircraft
  • confront unauthorized personnel in secured areas and report as required
