Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of experience in public contact
  • Pass Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check
  • Meet Texas Commission on Law Enforcement requirements for Telecommunicators
  • Pass Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment clearance
  • Maintain federally mandated airport security clearance
  • No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
  • Ability to operate computer and basic office equipment
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to respond rapidly in emergency situations
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and logs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of experience in public contact either in person or by telephone
  • Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility
  • Must meet the minimum requirements established by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement for Telecommunicators
  • Must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment clearance upon employment
  • Must maintain federally mandated security clearance required to work at an airport at all times
  • Preferred typing speed of 35 words per minute confirmed by Texas Workforce Commission typing certificate
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent memory retention
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Job Duties

  • Dispatches airport police, fire, security, maintenance, transportation, operations and parking personnel to appropriate request for service
  • Operates fire and security systems and monitors CCTV cameras throughout the airport
  • Conducts periodic checks on security checkpoint alarms and maintains logs in accordance with FAA regulations
  • Performs registration checks on vehicle license plates, driver's license, and warrants through the computer-aided dispatch system
  • Generates San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) case numbers and logs all pertinent information
  • Maintains logs on lost and found property, persons and vehicles paged, vehicles impounded, shift change checklists, maintenance call back numbers, and incidents recorded on DVR discs or thumb drives
  • Provides information to the general public and tourists visiting the San Antonio International Airport
  • Maintains and provides flight status information on cancelled or delayed flights
  • Performs necessary notification on significant unforeseen events such as bomb threats, aircraft emergencies, aircraft accidents and severe weather warnings
  • Records pertinent events on DVRs
  • Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required
